He is now an approved AKC judge for all levels of tracking competition, and has judged and exhibited in 15 states, including Alaska. He and his wife, Lew Olson (an AKC multiple group approved judge) live in Magnolia, Texas with their Rottweilers, Brussels Griffons and four horses. Jeff Shaver has belonged to the American Rottweiler Club, Medallion Rottweiler Club, and Colonial Rottweiler Club for over 25 years, and belongs to his local club, the Texican Rottweiler Club as well.
Today, Mr. Shaver has handled dogs he owns or co-owns, and for the most part has bred, to over 30 AKC Tracking titles, including 7 Champion Trackers. He and his wife have successfully bred and produced nearly 50 AKC Champion Rottweilers, and now many Champion Brussels Griffons as well as dozens of obedience, agility, rally, therapy dog, and other titled offspring. Having served as past five-year president of the American Rottweiler Club, as well as other terms as a Director, Mr. Shaver has been involved in rescue, competitive AKC events including obedience (through utility level) and devoted time fighting anti-canine legislation in Texas and other parts of the country.
When not working with the dogs or feeding horses, Mr. Shaver enjoys fishing at any opportunity.
“Nothing in dog sports excites me more walking up to the start flag of a track and being forced to trust your dog to do the work. I am very honored to have been invited to judge your 2018 National Specialty Tracking events and look forward to it”—Jeff Shaver

Jane Jonas of Fort Collins, Colorado started in Bassets almost 50 years ago. During this time her family has had ten Bassets; two of them reside with them now. The original pairs were fabulous family pets .Then, when their oldest daughter went off to college, so did Jane. Ms. Jonas completed a Veterinary Technician degree when they lived in Missouri. Then she completed an Animal Science degree when they lived in Lincoln, NE. From those late in life educational experiences Jane also worked as a relief technician for 15 years at a small animal practice that had a focus on canine reproduction. It was there that she met those friends that drew me into Conformation, Tracking, Obedience, Rally, and Therapy dog work.
Jane also bred and raised ten litters of Bassets over the 50 years and can be proud to have bred, trained and handled Bassets included in the BHCA parent club Versatility program.
When Jane is not sharing her time with her dogs and husband, she can be found enjoying hobbies of needlepoint, landscape gardening, hiking, skiing, and short trips to explore their beautiful state of Colorado, or visit family in the Midwest.
While Jane does have many hobbies, Tracking, and sharing tracking fields with friends, is probably her favorite activity of all. Jane became addicted in 1995 when she set foot in the first training field and never looked back. Jane feels the thrill of the first certification is still the same now as it was then. . It never gets old. since each dog is a different bond. . No two teams are the same. NO two days either!
